2018 Juried Art Competition

a national juried competition  for art works on paper

Awards and Artist Reception, August 3rd, 5-8pm, 2018

For this themed national call for art paper had to be 50% of the artwork.  Artists from across the United States submitted over 400 artworks for consideration.  The artworks represented a wide interpretation of “works on paper”. Looking with a critical eye towards excellence of expression and material handling, as well as find a good balance among a variety of mediums and a range of aesthetic approaches  Juror, Doug Stapleton, Associate Curator of Art, Illinois State Museum selected 27 pieces for the exhibit. His selections include traditional approaches, pieces that looked at the physicality of paper and artworks that exploits papers “history”.

 

A First Prize award of $500 and three $100 Honorable Mentions along with the Awagamai Paper Award will be presented at the artist reception, August 3rd, 5-8pm.  A People’s Choice Award will be presented at the end of the exhibition where winning artist receives monies collected from votes placed at $1 each.
